A few new goodies for our growing list... from Handel's Messiah: the very famous Hallelujah Chorus and Rejoice Greatly also Zadok the Priest. And to complement our lovely arrangement of Elgar's Chanson de Matin (arranged by Bill Thorp) we have just added Thorp's take on Chanson de Nuit. Finally to celebrate the recent Purcell weekend on Radio 3 we've included wonderful arrangements of Strike the Viol and Sound the Trumpet great companion pieces to an old favourite the Rondeaux from Abdelazar. Ooh I may be about to have a little Purcell moment...
Or Pilton as it's called round here (the Pilton Pop Festival), our viola player and second violinist have been invited to join Tumbleweed Jim for a bit of a change. We'll be performing at 6.30pm on the Saturday night at the Avalon Cafe Stage - come and say hello! Check out Tumbleweed Jim on MySpace they're pretty rockin'. It's great to be doing something different but May wouldn't be May without a clutch of wonderful weddings. We've received a warm welcome from everyone we've played for. We have a few new pieces in our repertoire: Man I Love (the Gershwin classic), Nice Work if You Can Get It and yet another arrangement of Chanson de Matin (we love this one) which we'll be rehearsing soon ready to add to our ever-growing repertoire. Hope you're having a sunny time wherever you are. An Easter treat for us, we're getting together at the weekend to rehearse and record a new selection of music for our website. Look out for our brand new LISTEN page in the next couple of weeks. Also we have a host of engagements in the next few weeks so we're rehearsing lots of new repertoire including arrangements of: The Promise by Tracy Chapman and The Raiders' March from Indiana Jones; alongside classic favourites: Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Chanson de Matin and Handel's Hornpipe from the Water Music. |
