We're stocking up on new music and have added a few pieces to our growing repertoire. Firstly a clutch of popular hymns: Be Thou My Vision, Crown Him with Many Crowns, Jerusalem and a glorious arrangement of Thaxted (I Vow to Thee My Country) from Sterling Procter. Also O Mio Babbino Caro, a lyrical, romantic, delicious aria from Gianni Schicchi by Puccini (it was featured in the Merchant Ivory film Room With a View). We're busy rehearsing and looking forward to quite a full programme of weddings, parties and performances coming up.
We spent last Sunday recording new material for the website. Thanks to Luke and Alan our friends from http://www.savannamusic.co.uk/ for inviting us to their wonderful studio near Frome, cups of tea, sunshine, microphones, etc. We're mixing later this week and will be uploading the new material very soon. An Easter treat for us, we're getting together at the weekend to rehearse and record a new selection of music for our website. Look out for our brand new LISTEN page in the next couple of weeks. Also we have a host of engagements in the next few weeks so we're rehearsing lots of new repertoire including arrangements of: The Promise by Tracy Chapman and The Raiders' March from Indiana Jones; alongside classic favourites: Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Chanson de Matin and Handel's Hornpipe from the Water Music. Look out for two Primavera regulars, Seona Chapman and Andrea Green, moonlighting with local quartet The Maggio in a free lunchtime concert at Wells Cathedral. Tuesday 7th April, 12 noon, in the Lady Chapel. The concert is part of the Music and Silence Series. Programme includes: Borodin String Quartet No 2 and two traditional melodies, She Moves Through the Fair and The Day Dawn, arranged by Seona. A MUST SEE! |
