Just a quick mention for a lovely concert coming up this Saturday 24th March at St Mary's Church, Glastonbury 7.30pm featuring a glorious selection of pieces written by Henry Purcell for voices, organ and strings. Tickets are £10, available on the door.
Happy New Year to all. It's been a long time since I posted, no excuses, I've just been busy and finding it hard to find time to sit at the computer. One of the highlights of the festive season was a wonderful concert with Oakfield Choir at Christchurch in Frome, our quartet joined forces with the Stringbeans and a few friends to make a small chamber orchestra conducted by Paul Dowbekin, the very Christmassy programme included Gerald Finzi's In Terra Pax which I hadn't heard before and really enjoyed. Looking forward to some great music-making in
We're delighted to be performing this Saturday at St Vigor's Church at Stratton-on-the-Fosse. The concert starts at 7.30pm and is part of St Vigor's Flower Festival. Our programme will include classical favourites: Spring from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Mozart's Divertimento in F, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 3; great arrangements of songs by George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Leonard Bernstein and The Beatles and Arvo Pärt's gentle, contemplative Summa. Tickets are £5 available on the door or in advance from Seona - 01749 850487. Do join us for a night of excellent entertainment in the intimate surroundings of this 12th Century church.
Just to let you know we can now accept payment by online bank transfer! Please check your contract or email me for bank details. Whatever next?
We've been asked to add a few new pieces to our Repertoire List. Here's advance notice that in the next couple of months we'll have these pretty exciting tunes available:
Happy New Year to all our friends and supporters. We had a fantastic 2010 and already have plenty of dates in the diary for 2011, hopefully including a series of concerts in the summer. Come and see us tomorrow and Sunday at the Spread Eagle Inn Wedding Fair at Stourhead (29th & 30th January). It's a great event in a wonderful setting.
I'm gradually exploring my wonderful web design service and just found a rather superior way to deliver our Repertoire page. Oh Joy! New features include a search facility, a range of different views, print, fullscreen and I've compacted the whole file so that you can download as a spreadsheet for a mere 36kb. Sweet and delightful. Off to Babington on Thursday with our rockiest, edgiest repertoire - my bow is shedding hair like crazy (it's the Led Zeppelin) so it's going to Michaela Wedermeyer this afternoon for a rehair.
